The Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) has authorized C.B Bioenergia, located in Santiago (RS), to begin operations for the production of wheat ethanol. The authorization was published this Thursday (8) in the Official Gazette of the Union. The plant is the first in the country authorized to produce biofuel from wheat.

C.B Bioenergia expects to produce 100 tons of the cereal per day and generate up to 12 million liters of hydrated ethanol per year. In the first phase of the project, approximately R$ 100 million was invested in construction.

By 2027, the company projects generating between 45 and 50 million liters per year with the expansion of the Santiago unit, which would require additional investments totaling R$ 500 million.

In November of last year, C.B Bioenergia received the Operating License (LO) from the government of Rio Grande do Sul to begin operations in the municipality.
